In a statement signed by Its National Secretary, Danladi Pasali, on Wednesday in Abuja, IPMAN said the letter by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, was an act of distraction to the achievements of the NNPC.

The nine-man committee headed by former Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Wammako, is also expected to investigate the policy introduced by Baru, for allegedly allocating nearly all petroleum products to Duke Oil.

"He accused Baru of running the NNPC like his private business and making appointments without regard to the Board and the ministry".

He pointed out that the company was being used as a conduit pipe for swindling the nation.

"This relationship has helped to greatly stifle the growth of indigenous companies operating in the sector", Anyanwu said.

"Aware of the decision by the current GMD to allocate nearly all products to Duke Oil, this is in addition to its automatic inclusion in the lifting of Crude Oil, Gas etc, which thus, made Duke Oil a money spinning outfit that is accountable only to the NNPC".

The senator said "Duke Oil as the sole importer of AGO has slowed down the growth of the country's indigenous companies".

"NNPC Trading is composed of the following outfits, Duke Oil; Hyson/Carlson (JV); NAP Oil (JV); and West Africa-Gas LTD (JV) and Duke Oil was incorporated in 1989 in Panama and therefore, does not pay tax in Nigeria and that it was specially registered to play a dominant role in the trading of petroleum products especially crude oil trade in the global oil market several years ago", Anyanwu said.

"Concerned that Duke Oil lacks the requisite credentials to trade internationally, it therefore, makes Duke Oil a giant commission agent only".

"You kindly instruct the GMD to effectively leave NNPC to run as a proper institution and report along due process lines to the Board and that Your Excellency instructs that all reviews be done with the Minister of State prior to your decision".

The Senate committee is to be chaired by Aliyu Wamako while its members include Tayo Alasoadura, Akpan Bassey, Samuel Anyanwu, and Ahmed Ogembe.

Others are Chukwuka Utazi, Rose Oko, Baba Garba and Kabir Marafa.

The issues are expected to be addressed in the meeting on Thursday.
