After an extremely busy summer packed with rumors, suggestions, and possibilities, Liverpool star attacker Philippe Coutinho finally can settle back into his old surroundings and play football again.

The Brazil global Coutinho was a top target of Barcelona during the summer transfer window and the Spanish giants had a £120 million offer rejected by Liverpool during the summer. "It was hard. Phil is a really good person, and we understood why he wanted to make the move".

The Brazil worldwide has unsurprisingly steered clear of the media spotlight after any hopes of a move to Barcelona came undone, but a recent pick-up in form suggests he's ready to move past any turmoil. He's someone who has always given everything for Liverpool.

And Wijnaldum told the Liverpool Echo: "It was hard". Following the breakdown of the move, there were doubts as to whether he would remain a committed member of the Reds first team this season.

"On one side, we would have been happy for him if he could have gone as he really wanted to make the move, but on the other side as teammates you want him to stay because you know with Phil we'll be better".

Both of those back-to-back strikes were critical in clinching results both domestically and in Europe, proof if ever it was needed that Coutinho is a key component in manager Jurgen Klopp's model.

Coutinho, who is contracted until mid-2022, said he would give his all for Liverpool. "We're so happy that he stayed", he concluded.
