The Buffalo Bills' offense was dealt a significant blow on Monday morning when it was reported that wide receiver Jordan Matthews will undergo surgery to fix a thumb injury and is expected to miss at least one month.

The Buffalo Bills are saying hello to one wide receiver while making preparations to temporarily say goodbye to another.

According to Sal Capaccio of WGR 550, Matthews will undergo thumb surgery and miss a month of action as he recovers. Overall this season, Matthews has hauled in 10 receptions for 162 yards and that lone score.

After a 23-17 upset win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, the Bills are now dealing with a few big injuries. Despite playing the vast majority of offensive snaps, Matthews only has 10 catches and 13 targets through three games. Buffalo acquired him in an offseason trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, sending cornerback Ronald Darby back to the "City of Brotherly Love" in return.

Walter Powell's four-game National Football League suspension is over, and he can rejoin the team Monday.
