China announces imposition of oil sanctions on North Korea from Oct 1

China is imposing new limits on trade with North Korea after the isolated country's latest nuclear test.

The administration said in a statement on its website that the quake, which occurred around 4.29pm, was recorded a depth of zero kilometers.

The patrols came after officials and experts said a small natural disaster near North Korea's nuclear test site on Saturday was probably not man-made, easing fears Pyongyang had exploded another nuclear bomb just weeks after its last one.

Separate geological agencies had detected two artificial tremors near North Korea's previous test site before the country touted its "perfect success" in a special announcement later that day.

The DMZ is a strip of land that has divided South Korea and North Korea since 1953.

Trump announced new US sanctions on Thursday that he said allows the targeting of companies and institutions that finance and facilitate trade with North Korea US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin also said banks doing business in North Korea would not be allowed to operate in the United States.

Later, the China Earthquake Administration revised its estimation, saying the quake was not a nuclear detonation.

He was speaking two days after US President Donald Trump in his own address threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea if the Chinese ally attacks.

So-called atmospheric tests of nuclear weapons were banned by the US, the then-Soviet Union and numerous world's nations in a 1963 treaty, though China conducted the last such test known worldwide in 1980. Since Kim came to power after the death of his father Kim Jong Il in 2011, he has ramped up nuclear and missile weapon tests.

Trump's latest steps to punish foreign companies that deal with the North was the latest salvo in a US -led campaign to isolate and impoverish the government of Kim Jong Un until it halts the missile and nuclear tests.

Trump called Kim a "madman" on Friday, a day after Kim dubbed him a "mentally deranged USA dotard".

North Korea has said it intends to build a missile capable of striking all parts of the United States with a nuclear bomb.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho said in NY on Thursday that Pyongyang may consider its most powerful test of a hydrogen bomb over the Pacific Ocean. Luther Strange, Trump lashed out against Kim, telling the crowd, "we can't have madmen out there shooting rockets all over the place". "Negotiation is the only way out and deserves every effort", Wang told the UN General Assembly.

"He, who cried out the extermination of the Korean nation, is a blood-thirsty beast indulged in massacring", the Korean Central News Agency cited the statement as saying.

China announced on Saturday that it will limit exports of petroleum products to North Korea starting in October to implement the latest United Nations sanctions over Pyongyang's sixth nuclear test.

North Korea has been working on developing missiles that can reach the United States and its allies and pair them with a miniaturized nuclear warheads.

A ban on textile imports from the North will go into effect immediately, the statement said.
