The first new Star Trek television series in more than a decade, Star Trek: Discovery, premieres on Sunday and to celebrate, Amazon has added some new Trek-centric functionality to their Alexa-enabled devices.

Was Sonequa Martin-Green a Star Trek fan before getting her role on the new series?

Starting Sunday, October 1, all subsequent After Trek episodes will be available to stream live at 9:30 PM, ET following new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery.

Admittedly, the latest edition of "Star Trek", featuring a cast that includes "The Walking Dead's" Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs, arrives in a media world nearly as complicated as the one Roddenberry envisioned.

CBS clearly knows what it's doing, or at least hoping to do: convert a significant percentage of those "Star Trek" fans who sample the program into subscribers paying $5.99 a month. While watching, fans will be able to "engage" with the show via social and other interactive elements by using the hashtag #AfterTrek.

Matt Mira is a long-time collaborator with Chris Hardwick and his Nerdist Podcast Network, where Matt often showed his love and knowledge of Star Trek.

After Trek is being produced by Embassy Row, who also make Talking Dead and other Chris Hardwick-hosted "Talking" shows for AMC. He is the co-host of the Star Trek: The Next Conversation podcast about The Next Generation.

Launched just this week, Version 3.0 of Star Trek Timelines includes a completely revamped user interface for Ship Battles, a new Ship Battle rewards system, plus the new Voyages feature that allows players to send crews out on long-duration missions into the unknown.
