Spinner Yasir Shah has been included in the Pakistan squad for two Tests against Sri Lanka after passing a team-mandated fitness test.

Chief Selector Inzmamul Haq held a press conference in Lahore and shared the names of 16 players, who have been selected for the upcoming series, scheduled to commence on September 28 at the neutral venue in United Arab Emirates (UAE). Shah's 24 wickets in 3 Tests helped Pakistan beat Sri Lanka away in 2015 but the stocky spinner has struggled for fitness in the past few months.

The first Test starts in Abu Dhabi from Thursday.

The two-match Test series will be followed by five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in UAE.

The second Test will be a day/night match, the first ever between the two teams.

Inzamam-ul-Haq said veteran batsmen Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan would be missed in the upcoming series; however, he expressed hope that Sarfraz Ahmed-led side would perform well in the series.

Pakistan have also selected 25-year-old uncapped left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza who has taken 216 wickets in 46 first class matches.

Sources said that Pakistan will pick five fast bowlers for the test series.

Squad: Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Sami Aslam, Babar Azam, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Sarfraz Ahmed (captain, wicketkeeper), Usman Salahuddin, Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Asghar, Mohammad Abbas, Bilal Asif, Mir Hamza and Wahab Riaz.
