'Danny Welbeck has a groin problem, ' Wenger said of his striker in the immediate aftermath of the injury.

Having undergone a preliminary scan on Monday, the England global is set for a second scan today to give a definitive assessment of his groin injury according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Danny Welbeck will definitely be sidelined until after the October worldwide break, although remains uncertain exactly how much time the Arsenal forward will miss as he prepares to undergo another scan on Tuesday (19 September).

Germany global playmaker Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to ask fans what they think of his rating in the Football Simulation video game Pro Evolution Soccer.

Welbeck was hurt in Arsenal's 0-0 draw at Chelsea on Sunday and will miss Wednesday's League Cup match against third tier side Doncaster, Premier League games with West Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion, and a Europa League fixture against Bate Borisov.

Wenger said: 'Mesut is training again but, for Wednesday, no [he will not feature].

Midfielder Jack Wilshere played his first Gunners game in over a year in last week's Europa League win over Cologne.

Defender Calum Chambers will be included against the League One team, as the Gunners start their bid for a first League Cup since 1993.

"It will be a similar team to the one that played against Cologne", Wenger added.

The former Real Madrid man is now facing a race against time to be fit for Arsenal's clash with West Brom on Monday evening (8pm). They get on very, very well.
