Nier: Automata sells over 2 million units

After hitting 1.5m shipments in May this year, the game's shipments and digital sales have now reached at least two million across the globe. As long as Yoko Taro is allowed to do his thing again, I hope Platinum keeps working with Square Enix. That's an fantastic number for a sequel to a niche title that didn't perform all that hot. The posting also included a message from Nier series director Yoko Taro as well as the producer for the series Yosuke Saito.

Nier Automata has sold more than two million sales worldwide.

The publisher revealed that the Nier: Automata / Nier: Gestalt & Replicant soundtrack vinyl box set will be available to pre-order in Europe beginning September 25 through the Square Enix online store. The collection contains four Vinyl discs with chosen tracks from the Nier series composer Keiichi Okabe and special illustrations from Sui Ishida (Tokyo Ghoul).

The NieR Music Concert & Talk Live video Blu-ray and the NieR Music Concert: The Memories of Puppets Blu-ray are also now available to preorder via Square Enix's online store.

It was always an outlier, a spinoff of the Drakengard franchise that became something more, until NieR: Automata catapulted it to fame.
