Zayn Malik: Harry just wasn't my Styles

When Zayn Malik made the decision to leave One Direction back in 2015, fans were stunned that the Bradford-native would choose to turn his back on the biggest boyband in the world.

Zayn added: "To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band".

One thing's for sure when it comes to a One Direction reunion: No matter which of the lads you ask, the consensus seems to be that they're all open to the possibility of it - even if they're not all the best of friends. The remaining members - Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne - have all gone on to release solo music.

"Yeah we spoke about that, we're in touch, everything is on a civil level..."

Speaking about living his life in the spotlight, 24-year-old Zayn told Us Weekly: "We try not to think about it too much". We were spending 24 hours a day in the band, now we're growing as individual men but we still check in'.

"My mum said, 'You've got to get back in contact with Zayn".

Though he didn't mention Malik by name, it was a clear dig at the crooner, who said multiple times that the life of a boy band just wasn't for him.

Whereas Styles went all dirty-rock-dog in his, truly excellent, solo debut album earlier this year, Zayn continues down the kind of path forged by Justin Timberlake (i.e. sexed-up-to-the-max electro, RnB tinged bangers) with a new album now in the works. I don't know. If I didn't want to [be in the band] then, I might not.
