Shots fired at high school near Spokane, Washington

Multiple injuries have been reported and a suspect is in custody after a shooting at Freeman High School in Rockford, south of Spokane, according to the Spokesman-Review.

An automated warning that was repeated on law enforcement radio channels said, "Freeman High School".

The Spokane Sheriff Office says that it officers within the high school are going through every room within the high school searching for additional potential shooting victims.

Multiple medical helicopters responded, along with police and other emergency responders.

One Twitter user named Christina, a junior at the school, said she was evacuated to the nearby elementary school. "At least 4 shots".

"They did a modified lockdown drill yesterday", she said. Freeman School District schools were also on lockdown, reports CBS affiliate KREM.

Pictures from the scene show a huge number of police cars surrounding the school building, and anxious parents have begun gathering at a nearby petrol station waiting for news on their children.
