However, Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff insists there is no such clause for Werner, and has told clubs they are not planning to let their star player go.

But Werner has not ruled out moving to England and is open to interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and the two Manchester clubs.

Last season, Werner scored 21 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches, more than any other German player in the league, and he has scored four goals in four competitive matches for RB in the current campaign.

In the summer, he won the golden boot with three goals and an assist in the final as Germany won the Confederations Cup.

"We play in the Champions League", Mintzlaff is quoted by Kicker as telling Sky.

However, according to Sport 1, the Reds need to be wary as Real Madrid are sniffing around Werner too.

If they are interested, though, they will face stiff competition, as Real Madrid are considered serious suitors for Werner based on multiple recent reports out of Germany.

Speaking of Werner's "incredible development" over the past year, scoring 25 times in just 36 official games for Leipzig, Mintzlaff noted that it would be hard to keep the player in Leipzig if they do not consistently qualify for the Champions League, but that if they do "he will have an appropriate platform to continue his development with us".

Liverpool took advantage of a clause in Werner's team-mate Naby Keita's contract, and have a deal in place to sign him for £48million next summer.
