The first technology it references is super-fast Gigabit LTE, which is a nod to Apple and Qualcomm's ongoing legal spat over licensing fees.

"Qualcomm Technologies has enabled some notable world firsts on Android, and some remain Android exclusives to this day", reads the firm's post. Galaxy Note 8 is water and dust resistant while it also features fast wireless charging.

"Here's to the next generation of mobile device start-ups and innovators, competing to bring you the next wave of class-leading Android devices".

One of the latest innovations from Qualcomm is making Gigabit LTE connectivity possible on Android smartphones.

Qualcomm boasts about laying the foundation for “so many technologies and experiences we value in our smartphones today”. Names like Google, Samsung, LG, HTC, and Motorola are included, even vivo and Oppo are mentioned as “two of the top five smartphone companies in the world”.

Qualcomm points out that the first bezel-less design came in Xiaomi's 2016 Mi Mix, which has since been taken up widely in the industry. While the new phone also features facial recognition and an iris sensor for biometric security, CNET called the iris scanner's performance "hit-or-miss", and BGR warned both options could be prone to hacking. The first augmented reality phone is Lenovo Phab Pro 2.

Technically, Qualcomm isn't engaged in combat with iPhones, Apple Watches or iDevices of any sort. "We also work closely with new entrants so that they can become tomorrow's leaders". "The vibrant Android ecosystem is built on Qualcomm inventions and our industry enabling horizontal model". Now I'm not sure I want to go back.

After last year's Note 7 fiasco, we weren't sure how Samsung and Note fans would respond. For instance: the HTC One M7 didn't have a dual-camera, and the HTC U11 is getting Bluetooth 5, but doesn't have it yet - it's expected to come with Android O later this year.
