Nigeria coach Salifsu Yusuf talks tough ahead of Ghana WAFU Cup clash

Super Eagles players (2 &4) keeping eyes on a Sierra Leone opponent when the two countries clashed in a 20017 WAFU Cup game in Ghana, last Monday.

Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Akwa United teammate Afeez Aremu will be the two defensive midfielders, while Friday Ubong also of Akwa United and NPFL champion with Plateau United's Peter Eneji the wingers and Kingsley Eduwo the top striker.

The statement said: "In view of this, the Nigerian camp has now been informed that instead of playing the Black Stars of Ghana on Thursday, as it was in the original fixtures, the Super Eagles will now take on Mali's Aiglons". Whether it is a Cup final or a friendly match, both teams give their very best.

Sierra Leone, Abu Bakarr Kamara, a one-time national captain, acknowledged his side will have an uphill task if they are to make it to the group stages of the tournament.

"I know it's going to be a tough encounter but I'm confident that we will come out of the match with our heads raised up".

The much-anticipated clash between Ghana and Nigeria now comes up on Monday at 6pm Ghana time (7pm Nigerian time). The clash with Ghana in October 1951 was Nigeria's second -ever worldwide. We fought hard as a team even with the tiredness of arriving Ghana late and still won the match.
