Mourinho: We Have Replacements For Paul Pogba

Mourinho will be sweating on the fitness of his star midfielder in a tough September that includes a trip to CSKA Moscow on top of domestic exertions.

The victory was built around a fine display from Fellaini, who entered the game on a negative note when stand-in skipper Paul Pogba had to be withdrawn with an apparent hamstring injury.

But, while pleased with the result, Mourinho felt they took their foot off the pedal having gone 2-0 ahead early in the second half.

However, Mourinho insists the player should have stayed and fought for his place, but he elected to move to the La Liga club on a temporary deal, "It was a personal decision that I don't agree with, a decision I don't think honestly is the best decision for him, a decision that disappoints me". In my experience, muscular injury stops you from playing for a few weeks, I think. Until 2-0 we were very stable, we played with confidence. "The squad is for this". Squads are for this, squads are for injuries, squads are for suspensions.

'We had yesterday a huge attack on some of our important players and we didn't cry, ' Mourinho added.

And Mourinho, speaking to BT Sport after the game, revealed that the 24-year-old would play no part on Sunday, noting: "'No Paul for Sunday".

On Fellaini, in particular, Mourinho added: "He is a player with special qualities who does things that some other players can not do".

"I couldn't be more pleased with him".

And maligned United midfielder Fellaini appreciates his manger's backing, saying: "It feels good. I give everything on the pitch".

Charlie Adam has pinpointed the main tactic which earned Stoke a point against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday night.

Herrera wasn't in United's squad for the match against the Swiss champions but he did start in their recent 2-2 draw against Stoke City.

"Losing 3-0 to Manchester United is not something you can be happy with, but I'm not disappointed with my team, I'm disappointed by the result", the Basle head coach said.
