"She had the strongest faith of anybody I've ever known and I'm grateful for her every day of my life, even when she was driving me insane, because she was such a lady".

On Tuesday, Gifford paid tribute to her mother on Twitter, writing, "My precious mother, JOANNIE went home to JESUS & my DADDY this morning".

Throughout the years, Epstein appeared on TV numerous times with her famous daughter, including during her 15-year run from 1985-2000 on Live with Regis & Kathie Lee. "Just like [my late husband] Frank, I believe she saw Jesus and Jesus took her breath away. And I always try to make her laugh when we talk in the morning", Gifford said previous year in a Mother's Day column. "I remember Frank the previous year of his life saying to me, 'I'm not afraid honey. No fear. She had the strongest faith of anybody I've ever known and I'm grateful for her every day of my life, even when she was driving me insane because she was such a lady".

"There is hope", Gifford said. "She really did. I think she's a little mad because yesterday they came to wake her up and give her her breakfast-it was her favorite breakfast".

"She's already had one day in heaven", Gifford continued, adding that she's happy her mother and father, Aaron, who died in 2002, are reunited.

"[She's] the sunniest person I know, except for maybe Hoda [Kotb]".

"She's a terrific mom", says Kathie Lee.

"You know what, Kath, I gotta tell you. It slows you down, '" laughs Gifford.

Joan Epstein, also known as "Cuddles" - a nickname she received from the boys at her high school based on her maiden name, Cuttell - was many things, Kathie Lee says, but most of all, she was joyful.

"But you know what?" "And she had the Lord in a deep deep way. If He's all you got, He's all you need".
