AIADMK sacks Sasikala as interim general secretary

With the annulment of the appointment of Dinakaran as Deputy General Secretary, the appointments made by him are also struck down.

Several bylaws governing the AIADMK were amended by the general council of the AIADMK (Amma, PTA) on Tuesday. "The General Council unanimously approves this", another resolution said.

Speaking to media persons at a hotel, Dhinakaran said that the resolutions passed by the EPS-OPS faction is subject to the final decision on a case pending in the Madras High Court.

Dhinakaran also dubbed the general council meeting, where the decision was taken, as a "public meeting" and said he had undertaken efforts to "send home this regime" (led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami).

With the general council declaring that decisions taken by Sasikala were not valid, the appointment of her nephew Dhinkaran to the post by her is also annulled by default. The merged group held a general council meeting on Tuesday and voted to oust Sasikala as general secretary.
