A measure of the most populated worldwide student bodies was included in the 2018 US News and World Report Best Colleges Rankings, for the academic year 2016/17. The full rankings can be viewed on the U.S. News and World Report website.

Southwestern, which came in at No. 96, is one of 223 National Liberal Arts Colleges, including 213 private and 20 public schools, to make the list. We're doing that today on many fronts, including student-faculty research, a curriculum that challenges students to solve problems across disciplines, and through the Allegheny Gateway, which offers internship opportunities, service learning, off-campus study and career services.

- The college was listed in the "A+ Schools for B Students" category, a list of schools that have applications with test scores and class standings that put them in "non-A territory", according to U.S. News.

As U.S. News and World Report states, these schools are where students "have a decent shot of being accepted and thriving - where spirit and hard work could make all the different to the admissions office".

Elsewhere, Princeton University topped the overall US News rankings for national universities for the seventh year in a row, and showing even greater consistency, Williams College (Massachusetts) reigns over other national liberal arts colleges for the 15 consecutive year.

The U.S. News ranking of top liberal arts schools is based on several key measures of quality, including graduation and retention rates, assessment of excellence by peers and high school counselors, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving. Less than one-third of management and accountancy programs in the USA earn this recognition and only 5 percent of the 16,000 business programs worldwide are accredited by AACSB.

Here's a list of where Franklin & Marshall College, Elizabethtown College and Millersville University were ranked.

Cornell was also ranked as 64 out of 108 in Best Value Schools among the liberal arts colleges.
