Two residents were confirmed dead at the facility while three others died a short time after being rushed to the nearby Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment, Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief said at a morning press conference.

A total of 115 people were evacuated from the home and taken to other facilities. Sharief said there are no details about the cause of the deaths.

Rescue crews began evacuating the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills early Wednesday to evacuate scores more from the the facility, NBC Miami reports. The building has been sealed off while police investigate. The nursing home has apparently been without air conditioning since the storm. Families looking for information can call the hospital hotline at 954-265-1074.

Dave Long, a fix man, told WPLG that the building's air conditioning unit fell out during Hurricane Irma. He said he's been calling Florida Power & Light for days to get it fixed.

Tuesday's low temperature in Hollywood, according to the National Weather Service, was 79 degrees.
