Colorado man killed in western Kansas accident

The first happened at 7:40 a.m. on USA 56 near K-23 when a pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Zachariah Hammond of Montezuma, Kan. crossed the center line and struck a semi. The 53-year-old driver of the semi, Robert L. Hoskinson of Cimarron, was also injured in the crash.

- A motorcycle rider was killed after he was struck by auto while attempting to pass a semi-trailer in Clay County in northeast Kansas. Meanwhile a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was heading north on K-15 when the motorcycle passed the tractor trailer in a no passing zone. The driver of that motorcycle was identified as 43-year-old Scott Curtis of Auburn, Nebraska. The patrol said Curtis wasn't wearing a helmet. The vehicles collided in the intersection. 87-year-old Fred Bogina of Arma was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Colorado man died in a Stanton County wreck with a tractor-trailer late Monday.

The crash happened Monday morning just after 8:30, about two miles south of Clay Center on K 15 Highway.

The driver of the pickup, Turner Lace of Walsh, Colorado, died at the scene. The patrol said Hernandez-Gonzales was wearing a seat belt.
