As Montgomery County police continue their search for Laura Wallen, a social studies teacher at Wilde Lake High School, the local community has taken to social media using the hashtag #bringwallenhome to share their thoughts and prayers for the Olney resident who's been missing since September 4.

Police found 31-year-old Laura Wallen's SUV not far from Wilde Lake High School in Columbia where she worked. The license plate matches the one police were looking for.

"She is well-loved by the community, by the students and by everyone in Howard County Public Schools".

"She told me about her pregnancy and how exhausted she was".

The high school has provided counseling for students, who have been informed of Wallen's disappearance by their homeroom teachers, Fox 5 reported.

The investigation is being handled by Montgomery County Police, which has jurisdiction over Olney.

A neighbor says they also searched a dumpster and asked questions, knocking on doors and showing residents Wallen's picture.

"At this point, do you believe any foul play was involved?"

"We are urging anyone with information to come forward. We're exploring all options, talking to friends, talking to family, to fellow teachers, anyone who may have had contact with her."

Wallen is a former teacher of the year.

But she didn't show up for the first day of classes this week, and friends, family and coworkers have taken to social media to share pictures of Wallen, alert people of her disappearance and pray for her safe return. The day before, her family received what they say was a "troubling" text from Wallen about an hour after she was last seen, at 8:30am Monday at her condo complex. She left her dog behind when she disappeared, CBS News reported.

Police spent Friday morning searching Wallen's home.

"It is a very hard situation for her family, friends, colleagues and students to handle - particularly because we still have so little information", Bassett said. Their search starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

She's described as white, five feet five inches tall and 200 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
