Junior Tony Brooks-James, who returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown against Southern Utah, rushed for 771 yards (7.1 per carry) and nine scores previous year. Sophomore Justin Herbert started 17-of-21 for 281 yards and a touchdown last week. Freeman had a 28-yard run in the drive.

Tanner Lee looked decent in his first Nebraska start, throwing two TDs.

The Oregon defense came up with a huge third-down stop when linebacker Jonah Moi sacked Lee, forcing a punt.

Thomas Graham Jr. gets his second interception of the game. Two third-quarter scoring drives pulled the deficit to 14, but that's as close as the team would get. The 95-yard drive was Nebraska's longest scoring since a 97-yard touchdown drive against Wyoming last season.

OR stretched its lead out to 28-14 with 7:10 left in the second quarter with a one-yard run from Freeman.

Offensively, Nebraska football averages 43.0 points and 463.0 total yards, 238.0 in passing and 225.0 in rushing per game. Freeman scored on a 1-yard run to finish an eight-play, 73-yard drive, and running back Kani Benoit scored on a 5-yard run to cap a seven-play, 70-yard drive.

The Huskers got a big break when they recovered a fumble deep in OR territory, and running back Mikale Wilbon capped it off with a three-yard touchdown to make it 42-35 with 2:47 to go. His production did tail off in the second half, though. Getting revenge should have been one of the biggest motivating factors for Oregon.

OR responded by driving to the Nebraska 32, but the Ducks stalled and couldn't convert on fourth-and-3. He veered to the sideline to catch the kick, cut all the way across the field, juked punter Eric Williams and sprinted the final few yards to give the Huskies a 21-7 lead. "This is about the Nebraska team playing the Ducks, but it is fun for me", Riley said.

The Ducks' first-year coach described himself as a "jughead" for drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and admitted that Texas A&M's epic collapse at UCLA last Sunday was on his mind during the second half. Nebraska ball with 4:56 left to play.
