Jenner's fellow winners include legendary photographer Mario Testino, who'll be presented with the "Creative of the Year" award (now he should get one for an entire decade), and Hearst's chief content officer Joanna Coles, who will take home the Media Maverick honor at the ceremony in New York City next Friday night.

But not everyone is happy for her.

The 21-year-old model has graced the covers of countless fashion magazines and has walked in a number of runway shows in the last few years, but that isn't enough for some angry fashion lovers who think the TV personality doesn't deserve the ringing endorsement.

Kendall Jenner, a wearer of tiny tops and a mainstay on magazine covers, is about to add another accolade to her name: fashion icon.

A writer for a celebrity website lamented that while Jenner has been a staple in pop culture due to her family's long running E! reality show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians", she is not yet an "icon". Fashion Icon?? OF A WHOLE DECADE YOU KNOW?! "Pathetic", Twitter user Ginger Winger wrote.

Confusion seems to be collective response on social media as critics argue that Kendall was just 11 a decade ago and has only been professionally modeling for six years. "These awards are certainly starting to lose its value now". "Rihanna is", an angry user declared.

Yet some came to Jenner's defense.

"Girl poses with the same old boring face, didn't even do 10 diverse photoshoots & y'all giving her "Fashion Icon of The decade".
