The talent show judge showed up on the red carpet looking stunning in a dress that on the face of it looked like a sequin lover's dream, but a closer look showed a deeper meaning beyond fashion - a barbed message aimed directly at her estranged husband.

But what captioned everyone's attention was the very clear statement on her dress: 'You Will Never Own Me'.

In papers filed on Thursday (24Aug17) and obtained by TMZ, Mel B claims her estranged husband seems to be enjoying the media attention surrounding their divorce, but she's exhausted of reporters and photographers hounding her and the kids, especially their daughter.

Lorraine has been caught up in Mel's divorce from husband Stephen Belafonte, (42), as the popstar claimed in her legal papers that she had terminated a pregnancy resulting from an affair with Stephen.

Some are even calling it her "revenge dress".

She also claimed in the filing that Belafonte hired a German exchange student, Lorraine Gilles, to be their nanny and pitted the two women against each other.

Mel B - real name Melanie Brown - rose to fame as Scary Spice in the now legendary girl band the Spice Girls along with bandmates Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm.

She has also presented and judged Dancing with the Stars, Americas Got Talent and The Voice Kids.

On Tuesday Los Angeles Superior Court judge Dalila Corral Lyons rejected Mel's lawyer's attempt to have Lorraine's case thrown out on the grounds that her allegations were protected speech as she made them while petitioning the court for a restraining order against her estranged husband.
