Argentine outlet El Dia claim that the centre-back, 19, will make the journey to the English capital with his father Ariel Foyth and Daniel Bolotnicof.

Pochettino told the young defender he really wanted him, had been following his career for a while, and, whilst he couldn't guarantee a starting point at Tottenham, Foyth was assured he'll be taken into account.

Foyth has so far only been capped by Argentina at U20 level but was recently called in for a meeting with senior coach Jorge Sampaoli, who reportedly considers him on the verge of a call-up.

However, Foyth is instead poised to join Tottenham, who were linked with him earlier in the transfer window.

"He told me to go, train and, if I deserved it, that I would play. He also told me what the club was like, what job idea it had".

It is said they will arrive after Tottenham's Premier League home clash against Burnley before putting pen to paper tomorrow on a five-year contract that has already been agreed.

But it seems Tottenham have won the race for Foyth after he received encouragement from Pochettino.

"The greatest dream of every footballer is to play in the Argentine national team. But I don't want to think about that now, but to settle at Tottenham", Foyth added.

El Dia report that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been key to swinging the deal in his club's favour and fighting off interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino chose to withdraw from talks after Estudiantes chief Juan Sebastian Veron - who played with Pochettino for Argentina - demanded more money for the 19-year-old.
