Final Fantasy XV Comes To PC Next Year

Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition comes with additional bonus content from the console iteration, which until now has only been available to season pass holders.

Final Fantasy XV promises to bring a darker, real world tinge to the long-running series. According to GearNuke, the recommended spec for the game lists available hard drive size as 170GB! These include enhanced shadows using NVIDIA's "Hybrid Frustum Traced Shadow" technology, along with support for Voxel Ambient Occlusion. It'll apparently also ship with all now available DLC for the game.

As Japanese game publishers start to realize the untapped potential of the PC gaming market, hopefully, more Final Fantasy games will make their way to the PC via Steam and other digital distributors.

Speaking at the Cologne games event, game director Hajime Tabata has detailed how working with Nvidia has allowed the team to raise the bar. "We can say now that FF15 on PC supports native 4K and also up to 8K, as well as HDR 10".

Final Fantasy XV - earlier known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII and exclusive to the PS3 at the time, has had a prolonged development cycle of nearly a decade, with a switch of directors too what with Tabata replacing Tetsuya Nomura who is working on Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III.

The only thing we're waiting on at this point is a release date. We've been given a somewhat narrow timeframe of when to look for the game and that is early 2018. Therefore those of you who prefer the insane frame rates at 4k graphical quality are going to be thrilled.

Rumours have abounded for a while that Gamescom would see the official announcement of the PC version.
