Wozniacki is yet to win a title in 2017, but will once again have the chance to change that after building on her epic quarterfinal win over world No. 1 Karolina Pliskova.

After breezing through the first set, Wozniacki let a 3-1 lead in the second slip away as Stephens levelled at 3-3.

Wozniacki had to battle several rain delays, with four in total causing problems on Friday, but she was able to maintain her composure and secure a 7-5 6-7 (3) 6-4 victory.

Wozniacki will face the victor of Saturday night's semifinal between defending champion and No. 2 seed Simona Halep of Romania and No. 5 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine.

The pair will play twice in a day after rain disrupted the schedule. Halep, the No. 2 seed, beat Caroline Garcia 6-4, 6-2 while Svitolina, the No. 5 seed, topped fourth-seeded Garbine Muguruza 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. She'll face either Elina Svitolina or Simona Halep for the title. It's not going to be easy; I'll be playing against a very good opponent. "I just want to give my best, enjoy the match, and try to fight".
