As reported by the Guardian, on the prospect of re-signing Ibrahimovic once the 35-year-old striker has recovered, Mourinho said: "We are having conversations and discussing the possibility of him staying for the second part of the season".

"I think he played really well", Mourinho said of the 29-year-old defensive midfielder, who he coached at Chelsea. Stewart Robson dissects game footage of Romelu Lukaku with Everton to display what the striker will bring to Man United.

The United manager believes Ibrahimovic still has unfinished business in the Premier League despite the serious knee injury that cut short his first season in England. "He is not ready to play tomorrow, so it is not something that's urgent".

United were the lowest scorers of the Premier League's top seven last season with just 54.

Mourinho has added Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic for a combined cost of £147 million but has lost Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney while Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young are long-term absentees through injury.

"Yes, we can (win the title), Europa League is not Champions League, obviously it is more difficult to win the Champions League than the Europa League but also motivation is higher, also my hard work last season to motivate the Europa League with ambition and commitment and responsibility, my work was hard at that level".

Mourinho has indicated that he wants a fourth signing before the transfer window shuts on August 31, as he needs a winger to bolster his squad.

"In my initial analysis, coming from January and progressing through the months, I was thinking about four players", Mourinho said. I understand by doing 75 percent of what I asked, the club did very well. He thinks he can do more.

"This season, in relation to the Champions League, it is not hard to motivate them against the top teams, I don't need to work at that level, so the motivation is more than enough".

"I don't think I am going to win it because I always win it in the second season".

"In my other clubs, what I had was more people scoring goals - midfield players scoring goals, wingers scoring goals, central defenders good in the air, scoring goals at set-pieces".

"The challenge is to win more matches than we did, by scoring more or conceding less, I don't know". The 25 per cent would be for a player for another position, playing from the sides.

The Red Devils often struggled to find a way past teams last term, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic provided the key impetus with 17 Premier League goals, although no other player was able to reach double figures.
