Exits game vs. Giants with leg injury

Bryce Harper injured his knee rounding first base Saturday night and had to be helped off the field. Harper's left cleat appeared to slip on the wet first base bag as he leaned forward to try to beat Giants first baseman Ryder Jones. He was carried off the field without putting weight on his left leg. Saturday's game was delayed three hours with more inclement weather and the rain conditions came into play right away.

The Nationals can survive those injuries, but if Harper goes down for the year we're not sure they can survive that.

Harper was replaced by Andrew Stevenson, who took over in center field with Brian Goodwin moving to right. That being said, an injury to arguably the best player in baseball is never good news, not matter how many games you're up in the division race.

He is among the National League's leaders in batting average, home runs and RBIs this season.

Harper is under contract through next season and can be a free agent in the winter of 2018.
