A single-engine private plane crashed Friday near the Lenawee County Airport, injuring the two people on board, Lenawee County Undersheriff Troy Bevier said.

It happened just after 11:15 a.m.

Rescuers pulled a man and a woman from the plane, who were reportedly hanging upside down inside the aircraft, Richert said.

The pilot and a passenger (a family member according to an event official) were taken to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center with "non-life-threatening injuries", according to the sheriff's office. Around 2 p.m., deputies said a woman in the plane walked nearly a mile away and flagged down a passing vehicle.

The airport remains open and the festivities will continue, he said.

The cause of the crash is being investigated. The names of the victims were not immediately released. Stick with Fox 8 News and FOX8.com for updates as they become available.
