A man who lives about a mile away from where the plane crashed didn't see much until he grabbed his camera and began snapping pictures. A man and woman who escaped the wreckage suffered only minor injuries.

Two people have been trapped inside the wreckage of a light plane after it stalled upon landing and crashed into bushes at Caloundra Airport on Australia's Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.

There were two occupants in the airplane.

The Lifeflight Rescue Helicopter landed near the crash site earlier but left soon after.

It took 70 minutes to extract the first person from the South African-designed Sling 4 piston-engine kit plane and "considerably longer" for the second, Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman Kristy McAlister said.

All emergency services are at the plane which is located at the far end of the runway.

A Police Media spokesman confirmed there had been "some sort of incident" but details were sketchy.
