Nikki Haley: New Tone Now Coming From China on North Korea

In Manila, Tillerson said he hoped the North would "choose a different pathway and when the conditions are right, that we can sit and have a dialogue".

The UN resolution bans all North Korean exports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood.

Fox News has gotten leakers in trouble with its North Korea coverage before. And they recognized that this president is not going to accept nuclearized ICBM's in North Korea.

"We will, under no circumstances, put the nukes and ballistic rockets on the negotiating table", North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said at Monday's ASEAN regional forum.

The vote comes after a month of private negotiations between the U.S. and China on the issue.

In a Tuesday morning tweet, Trump said: "After many years of failure, countries are coming together to finally address the dangers posed by North Korea".

Other resolutions against North Korea have not worked, and while getting China and Russian Federation onboard to vote for the measure is being considered a diplomatic feat, they also will need to be held accountable to enforce the sanctions.

The prospect of pocketbook pain is always persuasive, and North Korea's blustery response arrived as if on cue.

North Korea has tested ship-launched missiles in the past and relies on boats to receive data from missile tests that stray far from the mainland. He urged North Korea to first halt tests for an "extended period", however often such confidence-building measures have failed. The Department of Defence now predicts Pyongyang could have nuclear-capable ICBMs by 2018.

Moreover, the latest sanctions signed off at the United Nations last weekend are, on the face of it, deeply punishing against the North Korean economy and its populace. Only days ago, the United States flew nuclear-capable B-1 bombers from Guam over the Korean Peninsula.

This diplomatic success is also crucial in the precedent it sets. Can North Korea be persuaded to give up its weapons of mass destruction, removing the threat to the United States and its allies, South Korea and Japan? Japan, a key United States ally, is also a potential target of North Korean aggression.

After pressure from Haley, the United Nations agreed on Saturday to slap sanctions on North Korea, which has tested the global community's patience with threats and missile launch displays. "So of course we have to provide all options to do that, and that includes a military option". She said: "He has to decide". I don't feel like it's any kind of real coincidence that Donald Trump would end up bragging about the modernization and strength of the United States nuclear arsenal on that specific day.
