According to a Pinkvilla report, Mitu Bhowmick-Lange (Director of IFFM) had stated, "IFFM is proud to welcome one of India's most loved and iconic actors - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - to the festival and look forward to celebrating Indian cinema in Australia". Meanwhile, filmmaker and producer, Karan Johar was bestowed with the "Leadership in Cinema" award. Films like Dangal, Trapped, A Death in the Gunj are nominated in best film category while actors like Amitabh Bachchan for Pink and Rajkumar Rao for Trapped are also nominated. Overwhelmed on receiving the honour, Tiwari said, "This is my first global award and it will truly be remembered". Among the winners were Sushant Singh Rajput, Aishwarya, KJo, Aamir Khan's Dangal and Prabhas starrer Baahubali 2. Sushant Singh Rajput won the best actor award for M.S. Dhoni: The untold story directed by Neeraj Pandey. Konkona Sen Sharma won the best actress for her role in the movie.

Karan Johar presents the Diversity Award to Garth Davis for Lion. We got to admit, while Rai Bachchan's fashion style continues to slay us, daughter Aradhya was much the show stealer here. She was quoted as saying, "I'm so humbled and filed with gratitude to be given this award".

In his trademark style, Karan took to stage to receive his award from Simi Garewal and said, "This is my first time in Australia and what a special reason to be present here for it". As an artist I have so much more to explore but it's great to have this honour.
