OnePlus has officially confirmed that Android O or Android 8 would be the last major OS update for last year's variant of OnePlus i.e. OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

So there's been a surge in questions about software support for the OnePlus 3/3T on their forums and they chose to pool a few of them together for some answers.

After the OnePlus 2's very lukewarm response, there was much rejoicing when the OnePlus 3, and later the OnePlus 3T, turned out to be a return to form for OnePlus. However, the company remains committed to providing security updates for the foreseeable future.

After the launch of the new OnePlus 5 in June, owners of last year's OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T were left with some confusion whether their older devices would continue to get software updates from the company. It also talks about a few other things, like feature differences to expect between the 3/3T and OnePlus 5 when OxygenOS 4.5 lands, why the OP5 has seen so many updates recently, an explanation for holding back features from the Open Beta Program, and a short terms schedule for the 4.5 update. Otherwise, you'll have to wait a while for each official update to come in as the OnePlus 5 has gotten development priority.

Oliver says the company dedicates a lot of time during the 1-2 months after a new device is released to iron out/add some of the most requested bugs/features.

In the meantime, that Open Beta Program will be the home to a "fast loop" of sorts when it comes to new features being placed on the 2015 phones. The OnePlus 3 is just about 14 months old at this point, and the 3T is even younger at just 9 months.
