The communication director's tenure was the stuff of Shakespearian drama - though brief enough to be just a morbid sonnet.

In a statement - allegedly dictated by Trump on Air Force One coming back from a Group of 20 summit in Hamburg, Germany - Don Jr said the meeting "primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children".

Trump Jr. released e-mails in July that showed he eagerly agreed a year ago to meet a woman he was told was a Russian government lawyer who might have damaging information about Clinton as part of Moscow's official support for his father. "As President Trump said earlier this month, the strong and courageous actions by the Venezuelan people to stand for democracy, freedom, and the rule of law have been continually ignored by Nicholás Maduro, who dreams of becoming a dictator".

Republicans on Capitol Hill hope Kelly, a retired United States Marine Corps general known for his fastidious nature, will bring order to a White House where disorder - in the eyes of those on the Hill - has led to few legislative victories and slumping poll numbers.

Speaking from the briefing room Monday afternoon, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed all White House staff will report to newly minted Chief-of-Staff General John Kelly. Says Durbin: "Qualities this White House hasn't displayed a lot of in the last few weeks".

News of the mistake came out on same day that Trump fired Scaramucci as White House communications director over an obscenity-laced interview with The New Yorker magazine, sources familiar with the decision said.

While congratulating Kelly on "a fantastic job" serving the DHS, Trump said he expected the former U.S. Southern Command leader to do a "better job" at the helm of the White House.

What does this latest shakeup mean for the turbulent Trump White House?

A British middleman pitched the meeting as an opportunity for the Trump campaign to obtain "very high level and sensitive information" as "part of Russian Federation and its government's support" for the now president.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that his administration has "done very well", noting the stock market, unemployment and business confidence. Priebus may be the chief of staff, but it's he who waits for Kushner, the 36-year-old senior adviser and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, and not the other way around.

"The president certainly felt that Anthony's comments were inappropriate for a person in his position", Sanders said when asked about the ouster. But as the New York Times reported, Kelly requested Scaramucci be let go, and that was that. "They want this to work". John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security.

A Fight to Watch-The Pentagon and the State Department, the Wall Street Journal reports, have presented President Trump with a plan to "supply Ukraine with antitank missiles and other weaponry".

Trump, for his part, ignored the turmoil and declared that his administration was humming along smoothly.
