Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) wasn't messing around during a House Financial Services Committee hearing Thursday when she confronted Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin with a procedural interruption that has now gone viral.

Maxine asked the secretary during a House Financial Services Committee hearing on Thursday why his agency has not responded to a letter she sent in May inquiring about the president's financial ties to Russian Federation.

He interrupts to say that he was planning to answer the question, when she says "reclaiming my time" again to tell him to just get straight to answering.

Watch Waters shred Mnuchin as she reclaims her time (it gears up at about the one-minute mark). When Mnuchin insisted he had been attempting to answer the question, Waters continued to press him to actually do so, repeating the "reclaiming my time" refrain.

Progressives have praised "Auntie Maxine" (a name that millennials have given her), shared clips from the hearing, and used "reclaiming my time" as a catchphrase.

Waters' response was badass and brazen, like the congresswoman herself, and has since inspired an a capella gospel remix from YouTuber Mykal Kilgore.

Adam Joseph, a singer-songwriter and producer, also created music out of Mnuchin and Waters's interaction, though his version is more club-friendly. Similar to the outpouring of affection for Warren when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said, "Nevertheless, she persisted" in reference to her, the attention on Waters has been supportive and enthusiastic. "I can not believe it that we went viral".
