USA says time for talk on North Korea 'is over'

North Korea said on Saturday it had conducted another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile that proved its ability to strike the USA mainland.

"We made an alliance decision with the Republic of Korea government past year to deploy THAAD to the Korean Peninsula as a defensive measure", Davis told reporters at the Pentagon.

Beijing has continued to urge for talks regarding North Korea, whereas Washington and its allies have stressed on the need to increase sanctions, both unilaterally and through the UN.

Abe said: "We have made consistent efforts to resolve the North Korean problem in a peaceful manner, but North Korea has ignored that entirely and escalated the situation in a one-sided way".

"We believe that the North Korea nuclear issue and China-US trade are two issues that are in two completely different domains", Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming told a press briefing, adding the issues "are not related, and should not be discussed together". "China is opposed to North Korea's launch activities in violation of UN Security Council resolutions and against the will of the global community", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said.

Haley said a weak resolution would show North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that "the global community is unwilling to challenge him", and singled out China, the North's biggest trading partner, as a country that must change its approach.

China has also rejected linking trade and the North Korean crisis.

North Korea also claimed Friday's test was created to show the missile's maximum range when equipped with a "large-sized heavy nuclear warhead".

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-North Carolina) is now saying that Trump told him personally he would be willing to go to war in North Korea.

According to a USA defense official, evidence of an "ejection test" - which examines a missile's "cold-launch system" - was carried out on land at the Sinpo Naval Shipyard, a port city on the Sea of Japan, on Sunday.

"The whole USA mainland" is now within North Korea's reach, KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

But last week a USA official told CNN that the U.S. government doesn't believe North Korea will be able to launch a reliable, nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile until early 2018.

Over the weekend Trump had expressed his frustration over Chinese inability to do anything against North Korea.

A Chinese government official said in mid-July that China-North Korea trade was worth $2.6 billion in the first half of 2017, up about 10% over the same period previous year.

"We have seen many North Koreans entering the country in several northeastern provinces along the Mekong River in the last few years", said Captain Chonlathai Rattanaruang, a commander of the Mekong River Navy patrol.

"So much for China working with us - but we had to give it a try!" he tweeted. By threatening the world, these weapons and tests further isolate North Korea, weaken its economy, and deprive its people.
