The upcoming film is set to introduce audiences to the villainous Hela, played by Academy Award victor Cate Blanchett, who hopes that her role will lead to more female antagonists in the MCU.

The 48-year old two-time Academy Award winning actress spoke about what truly piqued her interest in the role of Hela in the upcoming "Ragnarok" film. But he won't be going up against Hela alone; as the recent sizzle reel attests, Waititi's galactic adventure sees Thor buddy up with his estranged sibling Loki (Tom Hiddleston), along with the Incredible Hulk and Tessa Thompson's fearless warrior, Valkyrie.

From the onset, there has been much enthusiasm for Cate Blanchett to bring her tremendous acting chops to the cosmic kingdom of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea for the character is exciting which means that she has not come to play around when she sets her plan to destroy and reconstruct Asgard under her governance in motion. News that she hadn't really realized that she was playing the first ever female Marvel villain on the big screen.

"I thought, 'Surely not... well, no actually that's true.' There's been many, many, many [female villains] in the comic books, but [Marvel Studios] has been a little tardy in bringing them to the screen, so hopefully there will be a lot more vilainesses".

Additionally, the critically admired actress also shared that her character's ability to juggle things up in Thor's reality was what eventually drew her to the role. This has demoted him to use mechanical weaponry which looks odd at first given that he is a god. With a few exceptions, critics have often pointed out that the antagonists are rather half-baked with murky motivations. It has already upped the ante with its two blockbusters - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming - which released this year. But, now that we know that Ragnarok won't end with Thor's defeat, Waititi's comments are a clue that might help us put together the beginning of Infinity War. Meanwhile, Hela's role in the MCU outside of Thor: Ragnarok remains to be seen.
