The Italian claimed that if there was any striker he could buy for the Blues, it would be the Spurs frontman, who scored 29 league goals last season, earning a second consecutive Golden Boot in the process. "For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world".

Chelsea have already spent big on one striker this summer, having paid a big-money fee to land Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid. The Spanish striker will be looking for a club, most preferably in Europe as this would increase his chances of being called up for the World Cup. He is a complete striker.

"He's a complete player". "If their ambitions are to fight for the title or win the Champions League, you must buy expensive players".

The 23-year-old Kane almost averaged a goal a game last season in the Premier League as he bagged 29 goals in 30 appearances for Spurs.

"Maybe for Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and - I don't know - Liverpool, it is a tragedy".

Conte suggested Tottenham must have lower expectations than their Premier League rivals a day after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said current levels of transfer spending were "unsustainable". "I don't see him going anywhere, I think he'll be at Tottenham for another couple of years at least".

Speaking from the Singapore American School, where the English champions have been training for the duration of their stay in Singapore, he said: "I'm pleased for this pre-season because I saw the right commitment from my players".

"They have the right manager in place and they are very competitive in that top four".

Chelsea are preparing for a return to European competition next season after they missed out on a spot in the Champions League last term.
