White House Says Tillerson To Announce Iran Ceritification Decision 'Very Shortly'

He explained his position by saying that "the White House a few days ago said that U.S. President Donald Trump uses his visit to Hamburg for the G20 summit in order to convince the leaders of other countries not to deal with Iran".

The State Department is required to notify Congress by July 17 whether Iran continues to comply with the 2015 deal, which requires Tehran to curb its nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of global sanctions.

The talking points emphasize that the US Treasury Department could impose sanctions on seven Iranian government entities and five individuals, Buzzfeed reported, in an attempt to punish and deter Iran from its alleged "malign activities".

Meanwhile, the grassroots disarmament organization Peace Action wrote on Thursday that the Iran deal should be held up as a model for diplomacy, as the US weighs its options in handling growing concerns over North Korea's nuclear capabilities-thus far, imposing sanctions and refusing to participate in talks with North Korea.

The United States has lifted nuclear-linked sanctions on Iran, but it maintains sanctions related to Iran's ballistic-missile program, human rights record, and support for anti-Israel militant groups. "Yet when it comes to growing concerns over North Korea's nuclear weapons program, the administration has instead opted for more ineffective sanctions and unsafe threats of military force".

So now it is up to the Trump administration to find Iran non-compliant with the deal, but rumours abound that they will- for the second time this year- agree that Iran is compliant with the deal until they figure out United States foreign policy towards Iran should be.

As a presidential candidate, Trump was voracious in his denunciation of the deal.

"That time is up", he said, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will make his announcement shortly. By ratifying the plan, Iran agreed to scale down its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief.

Here are the talking points from Buzzfeed.
