Dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 5X, the smartphone will be placed just in between the flagship and midrange offering from the Chinese company. Redmi 5 has been subjected to multiple leaks ahead of its official debut which does reveal a gist of all the specifications and features about the upcoming Xiaomi device.

The Xiaomi 5X is expected to feature a thin metallic body and it is expected to arrive in color choices like gold and black. Earlier, it was expected that the new smartphone would come with the Snapdragon 660. Storage-wise, there will be 64GB of native storage capacity. The battery capacity of the Mi 5X is also now not yet known. Rumors have it, X1 will be the first phone from the series. A close look at the partially leaked image of the Mi 5X makes things even more clear. It seems that this image belongs to the Xiaomi 5X. The Chinese smartphone already released a great number of new handsets this year and is going to launch a new sub- brand soon.

In terms of photography, the Redmi 5 is expected to feature an improved 16-megapixel rear camera setup with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and dual-tone LED Flash. And the Xiaomi 5X could be the first Xiaomi device to have a 16MP selfie snapper. The upper mid-range smartphone will also rock a front facing fingerprint scanner.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be backed up by a 3,680mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology and will be powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with yet-unreleased MIUI 9.0 on top of it.

Interestingly, the leaked smartphone bears a design that's reminiscent of the Oppo R11 and the OnePlus 5. And a new report from today claims that the phone will come in two variants and will indeed have dual camera support at the back. This move, which is unexpected from a "online only" brand, hits at a possibility of a sub brand launch, which could enable to company to deploy more products at various price tiers. So far, Xiaomi has not officially announced an event for July 26 in China. As per the ad banner, Xiaomi will price it at 1999 Yuan (Rs 19,000/$295).
