Mayweather, McGregor trade taunts and insults

Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have given us some ribald and riveting television viewing this week, as the Irish mixed martial arts fighter prepares to be annihilated in Las Vegas next month.

Meanwhile Mayweather sparked a homophobic storm as he called McGregor a "f****t" while accusing the UFC star of calling black people "dancing monkeys".

His lack of pro boxing experience has led many to predict an easy victory for "Money" Mayweather, who came out of retirement in March.

Then, Mayweather started shadowboxing, which made McGregor laugh.

"I'm self-motivated", Mayweather said.

"I have a very high fight IQ", he said. Conor can train at 100%, full fights, go through the gauntlet and be that much stronger, that much more risky.

"But there is no way he will knock me out". I just wanted to say something and have a little bit of fun with it. It was amusing that Mayweather joked about the money being small bills made for McGregor, at the same time wearing platform shoes that McGregor later made fun of.

In 2015, before a matchup with Brazil's Jose Aldo, McGregor said, "What I really want to do is turn his favela into a Reebok sweatshop. I know who I am as a person and I think that most realistic people will look at me and know who I am", he added.

"There's a few of them in the mix", McGregor said at a media scrum.

"But now I am here to fight so f**k all of that shit".

McGregor has an inch height edge over the American, but the Irishman is seen as a big underdog in the fight.

But Mayweather ruled out any prospect of a fight with the former Queensland schoolteacher. Even at the age of 40, Mayweather will still have the tools to put his opponent on the palms of his posterior, and probably spark out, within three rounds. So in that sense, he did put up a good fight.

In the past, Floyd Mayweather has picked up an impressive record of 49-0.

There have been huge fights in boxing history.

"My trainer Glenn Rushton is already working on a plan to beat him".

"I just wanted to play with it and address it in my own little way".

Vargas was never too high on McGregor's chances to begin with.

"I think Pacquiao was focused on fighting (me) again".
