Girona are expected to complete the loan signing of highly-rated Brazilian Douglas Luiz after his permanent move to Manchester City.

He follows Bernardo Silva, Ederson and Kyle Walker through the door at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

It is understood the fee could rise to £14.1m, and the midfielder is expected to be loaned out to City's sister club Girona for the forthcoming campaign.

The signing of Luiz comes nearly instantaneously after City broke the world record fee for a defender, as they secured the services of Walker believed to be worth in the excess of £50m.

City then went on to say that a further statement will be released by the Club in the coming days which will outline Douglas's immediate development pathway.

Reports in El Mundo Deportivo and Diario Sport reflects those in Globoesporte which state the 19-year-old will join the newly-promoted La Liga club imminently following his arrival in Manchester.

Douglas Luiz only officially became a Manchester City player yesterday and has already left England to embark on the next stage of his career as a footballer.

"He is an exciting player with great potential, and everyone here is looking forward to helping him develop his talent and progress in the game".
