Apple embraces zombies and elves for new emojis in iOS 11

Apple also previewed emoji for food items, such as a sandwich and a coconut. With today's announcement, Apple is acknowledging the latest version of the Unicorn Standard and teasing artwork for a few of the emoji it's illustrated so far. More animals and mythical creatures like T-Rex, Zebra, Zombie and Elf are a fun way to describe situations and new Star-Struck and Exploding Head smiley faces make any message more fun.

Apple is celebrating World Emoji Day with a set of emoji filled movie banners in the iTunes Store.

This emoji is one of a group that Apple will release later this year.

The World Emoji Day account has also been providing facts about some of the most used emojis.

Apple just announced it will release a new set of emojis later in 2017, but did not disclose when, exactly, we'll be getting simple image-based ways to say "mind blown" or "I'm breastfeeding right now".

In celebration, Apple posted a handful of the new emoji coming to iOS 11, macOS, and watchOS when it's available this fall.
