The Walking Dead halts filming after stuntman seriously injured on set

Now, AMC, the studio behind the hit zombie series, and The Walking Dead showrunner Scott M. Gimple have expressed their condolences following the news of Bernecker's death.

According to the website TMZ, John Bernecker died that night.

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", the network said in a statement.

According to Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk, Bernecker died of blunt force trauma experienced due to his fall.

"We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for "The Walking Dead" and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set", AMC said in a statement Thursday.

Networks said in a statement that John Bernecker had been injured in an accident while on set in Atlanta for the show's eighth season. "We will work with the authorities and closely monitor their investigations into this tragic incident", SAG-AFTRA added. John's work on The Walking Dead and dozens of other movies and shows will continue to entertain and excite audiences for generations.

"The family of John Bernecker is heartbroken to confirm that John has passed away from injuries sustained earlier this week", LifeLink Foundation said in a statement.

"We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John's family, friends and colleagues during this extremely hard time", AMC said Friday. There's no word if representatives of "The Walking Dead" will appear as scheduled at the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego. Ahead of the start of its seventh season a year ago, the show was among the top-rated series on television among adults 18-49, AMC had said. He has also worked for the big screen, including several Marvel as Logan or recently Black Panther.
