Some Facebook users will now be able to create their own GIFs using the camera function in the social networking giant's app.

If you are a regular user of Facebook app's Camera tool, you might have started to see an option to create GIFs within the app.

It appears the GIF-making feature is not available to all users at this time, suggesting those who now have their hands on it either got it by accident or through the update rolling out very slowly. GIFs can also be combined with existing effects available in the Facebook camera.

TNWHow do you make a GIF on Facebook? Either way, you will see these tabs at the top of the next screen: Normal and GIF. The resulting animated GIFs can be shared only on Facebook, be it as ports or story. Instead of there just being the one mode, which it describes as "Normal", there will be a second option for "GIF" mode. The only downside to the GIF creator in Facebook on iOS is that it seems the GIF will only last a couple seconds.

Speaking of Facebook, GIFs were not something that Facebook took to immediately, as a lot of other social networks were making them important from the get-go. Videos are something that you can monetize. When swiping to the left to bring up the Facebook Camera, there will be a new mode at the top.

According to Facebook's own stats, nearly 13 billion GIFs were sent on Messenger over the past year, with 400 million GIFs sent just on New Year's Day 2017. We do not know yet whether the GIF creator will be coming to the Android version of Facebook in testing format.
