He denies current ties to any Russian intelligence agencies, though some US officials suspect otherwise, NBC said.

NBC News is also reporting that the Russian-born American Akhmetshin was at the meeting.

The meeting was arranged by music publicist Rob Goldstone, who emailed Trump Jr. that a "Russian government attorney" could provide dirt on the Clinton campaign as "part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump", according to an email conversation shared publicly by Trump Jr. "He could be subpoenaed, and the individuals called so far, Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort, lead me to think that this individual will be called as well by Chairman Grassley, because I believe he's intent on getting all the truth that we can about this meeting and others".

Veselnitskaya later told NBC that she didn't have negative information on Clinton and had asked for the meeting to talk about the Magnitsky Act, which authorizes the United States president to deny visas to and freeze the assets of selected Russians, as a punishment for Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Akhmetshin's lobbying caught the attention of Sen.

Veselnitskaya has denied having ties to the Russian government. Trump Jr released a statement in the past week to give an insight of the meeting held with Russian nationals.

One of the lawyers representing President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner in the ongoing Russian Federation investigation is abandoning the case, according to Yahoo News.

Alan Futertas, the mob lawyer retained by Donald Jr., also confirmed the presence of two other people at the meeting. "In the course of my investigation [about the fund manager], I shared information with him". In politics, if I meet with, whether it's a citizen or a non-citizen, and they give me information or an idea or talk about policy, there's nothing wrong with that.

"Both during the meeting, while I was talking to Donald Trump, Jr., and in the written materials I prepared, I was trying to tell the story that I myself had personally investigated", Veselnitskaya said, referencing Browder. The White House has not commented yet either.

The president appeared to refer to a report from the political news website that said the lawyer had been previously refused a visa but was granted a special immigration waiver by Lynch's office in order to enter the country from October 2015 to January 2016 to represent one of her clients in NY, subsequently extending her stay. The lawyer is said to be related to the deceased baseball Hall of Famer of the same name.

This week brought another test of Fox News's willingness to defend the Trump administration in the face of growing evidence that the Trump campaign attempted to collude with the Russian government during the election.
