BCCI welcomes Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals back in IPL

It remains to be seen if the players are allowed to be retained, and if so, what will happen to the former players of CSK and RR who were with different teams for the last two years.

Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, and Gurunath Meiyappan, of the Chennai franchise, were banned for life from cricket-related activities.

The two-year suspension of Chennai Super Kings following the spot-fixing scandal ended on Thursday and the two-time champions are once again back in fold. Enga thala (Our hero) Dhoni will be back with us.

Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions were the two new franchises that were included in IPL in place of CSK and RR.

"We have had a strong working relationship with Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals and hope that we can continue to build upon the close ties that we have enjoyed in the past, as we move towards the next edition of the league".

Moments after the final of 2017 edition Indian Premier League between Rising Pune Supergiant and Mumbai Indians was concluded, Chennai Super Kings franchise announced their return next season to the league on social media.

The franchise wants to get Fleming as head coach along with other support staff (Steve Nixon, Andy Bichel and Lakshmi Narayanan) that left in 2015. He further added that they are also thinking of retaining the old support staff as loyalty is very important for them.

"We haven't yet interacted with Dhoni as his contract with Pune ends later this year".

After a gruelling two-year suspension, the BCCI officially cleared the decks for the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Friday. "However, we will speak to him in the future", he added. The CSK fans are eagerly waiting for their favourite team to return to the ground in the yellow jersey.

Chinese mobile telecommunications company Vivo renewed its title sponsorship of the IPL in June for Rs 2199 crore (AUD$443m) over five years from 2018-2022. George said that the fans had been phenomenal in supporting them and the team management can plan to have a CSK get-together while former CSK player Matthew Hayden will be in India for the commentary of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
