Guwahati: An Indian Air Force helicopter with three on board has gone missing near Sagalee in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh.

This case comes nearly a month after the incident of a missing Sukhoi that went missing from Tezpur Air Force Station with two crew members. "The ALH, which was being flown by two pilots with a flight engineer, did not land at the Naharlagun helipad after it took off from the Pilputu helipad near Sagalee at 3.48 pm".

An official in Itanagar informed that the helicopter had made five sorties evacuating flood-hit people since 10:30 AM on Tuesday, and had returned for the sixth trip.

"CM Pema Khandu ji & state govt mobilizing local people to locate the missing IAF helicopter which was on a rescue mission in Arunachal", Rijiju said in a message on Twitter. While Sagalee is in Papum Pare district just north of Itanagar, Dambuk in Lower Dibang Valley is about 350 km east of the state capital.

Also in the line of air incidents, a mishap was averted when a helicopter with Union Minister Kiren Rijeju on it had to make an emergency landing in Itanagar due to bad weather.

Search operations for locating the missing IAF chopper could not be launched because of inclement weather. A report said the rescue operation was quite hard and heavy rain, fog, and forested area made the landing a challenging task.
