French striker Olivier Giroud aiming to win trophies at Arsenal

The France global, who started just 11 Premier League games last season, recently admitted that he will not settle for being a back-up player any longer.

Lukaku has held a similar stance at Goodison Park last summer, but he was convinced by Ronald Koeman to stay put for one more season in order to gauge the club's progress.

With Arsenal set to land coveted Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette in the next few days, talk has intensified of a transfer for Giroud, with Everton noted as a possible destination for the Frenchman.

It is Giroud who Everton are now focused on though, the scout says, feeling that Arsenal's French striker offers a potential bargain if he can be signed for £20m, meaning interest in Zapata is no longer relevant.

"It (his future) has to be (elsewhere)".

But with competition for starting places in Liverpool's starting XI proving to be stern, Lacazette would have presumably been a pointless business venture, with so much talent waiting to be unleashed upon proceedings next season.

"He's not a guy who's going to win you a title or anything in Europe, not that they're in Europe. But, yes, I want more playing time".

However, the 30-year-old, whose contract expires in 2020, has now had a change of heart and spoke of his need to be loyal to the club.

"I think somewhere in Italy might be a good destination for him", Nicol concluded.
