Morocco To Send Food To Qatar Amidst Gulf Diplomatic Crisis

Last week, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed ties with Qatar.

Qatar says it has begun shipping cargo through to Oman to bypass Gulf countries that have cut off sea routes to the tiny, energy rich nation.

Previously, large cargo ships visited the UAE deep port of Jebel Ali, where cargoes were reloaded onto smaller ships before being delivered to the Qatari port, which is not capable of receiving large vessels.

The Gulf state has indicated that it will ask the council to resolve the conflict, one of the sources said, using a dispute resolution mechanism under the 1944 Chicago Convention which is overseen by ICAO.

Qatar's Hamad Port is 420 nautical miles from Sohar Port and 1,131 nautical miles from Salalah.

Meanwhile, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency has said two Iranian navy vessels will stop off in Oman soon.
